Alka Yagnik

Alka Yagnik is an Indian playback singer in Indian cimema. she was born ( 20 March, 1966 ) in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. She was belong to a Gujarati family. Alka has almost completed 34 year's in playback singing. She is one the popular singer in Indian Music Industry and widely known for her melodies voice.

She has sung in many languages other than Urdu-Hindi, including Gujarati, Avadhi, Oriya, Assamese, Manipuri, Nepali, Rajasthani, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, English and Malayalam.

Akla was born in Kolkata in a Gujarati Family. Alka living in a musical atmosphere, her both parents are clasical trained singer's. Alka has completed her studies from Modern High School for Girls. Her mother Shubha Yagnik was a classical singer, her mother teach her basic's of music. At the age of six Alka has singing bhajan's in Akashvani All India Radio in Kolkata. When Alka was ten year Old they moved to mumbai. Where she focused in her voice and learning of music. Rajkumar has heard about Alka and send her with letter to famous music director Laxmikant. After heard her voice Laxmikant was so impressed and gave her chance to as a dubbing artist, later she worked as singer.

Alka is an classical trained singer, she began singing from Akashvani ( All India Radio ) In Kolkata. She started as dubbing artist and she debut as singer in 1980 for the film Payal Ki Jhankar, after that she sung in two movies such as Laawaris in 1981 and Hamari Bahu Alka in 1982. The song "Ek Do Teen" from Tezaab in 1988 was one of her famous song and she won best Playback Singer Award.

She has worked with Indian composers such as Kalyanji-Anandji, Rahul Dev Burman, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Rajesh Roshan, Nadeem-Shravan, Jatin Lalit, Anu Malik, A. R. Rahman, Anand-Milind, Himesh Reshammiya, Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, Ismail Darbar, Aadesh Shrivastava, Viju Shah, M. M. Keeravani, Sajid-Wajid, Bappi Lahiri, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Sandesh Shandilya and many others.

In her career Alka has sung many solo songs and many of duet songs. In duet songs she has been sung with Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu. Alka and Udit all duet songs are widely famous in India. She has also sung many duet songs with Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Sonu Nigam, Vinod Rathod and Shaan.

In she along with Sonu Nigam sang a song 'Shiksha Ka Suraj' as part of National Literacy Mission of India for which she was felicitated by Union Minister For Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal Further in , on occasion of years of Hindi Cinema, her song "Taal Se Taal Mila" from the movie Taal was voted as the best song of the century in a poll conducted by DesiMartini, Hindustan Times and Fever Also her song "Choli Ke Peeche" from the movie Khalnayak was voted as the hottest song of the century in a poll conducted by Sanona. She has also a part of empowerment of the girl child.

Alka has won many several prestigious music awards for best female playback singing. She has been also hold the record for most awards won is seven of Filmfare Awards for Best female Playback Singer, and she won many awards for playback singing and these are Below:
