Currently an assistant professor of journalism at the Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR), Delhi University she is also an active research scholar at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-D). She has widely published on New Media Technology, its social shaping and impact of internet on society and issues of global governance. A media & communication teacher-trainer by profession, a photographer, filmmaker by training; & a practitioner-activist, educationist and curator by choice Subi has several firsts to her credit. She serves on numerous communication and design juries in India and across the world including the design jury of the IBC, Amsterdam the world’s largest convention on content, creation, broadcasting & delivery. Her research is interdisciplinary. She has contributed to the discipline along the dimensions of social shaping of media, convergence, ICTs for development, visual communication, new media and media accountability, digital literacy, broadcasting & media governance. Subi is the director of the critically acclaimed documentary 'Freedom Song' which maps contemporary issues of Freedom of Speech and expression in India today. Subi is also the founded of Media for Change, a not-for-profit collective of media persons, academicians, public intellectuals and grassroots NGOs for better accountability in policy making & governance. She has also founded the Saltlist - a unique online media portal run solely by young women students drawn from across disciplines and geographical locations in the country, on contemporary issues. She is also currently running a nation wide campaign on online safety in India and uses innovative formats and performing arts for creative engagement with Digital policy literacy and deepening multistakeholderism in governance. She champions several youth and women initiatives in India and is currently leading the India Youth Internet Governance Project.
